Driving Change Through Sustainable Waste Oil Management Partnership
We are committed to sustainability, and continue to make significant headway in reducing our carbon emissions. We are supporting this by driving change through sustainable waste oil management. Through our partnership with hazardous waste specialists, Slicker Recycling, all our waste oil is sent to their re-refinery – where it is converted into base oil. This step is just one of the many ways we actively reduce our environmental impact. And, contribute to a greener, healthier planet.
Re-refining Used Oil
To support us with our sustainability agenda, Slicker is committed to following the European Waste Hierarchy Model. This focuses on minimising waste, reusing materials, and recycling wherever possible. By working with them, we reinforce our sustainability agenda. We also ensure our operations align with these principles.
Supporting Sustainability Agenda
Through routine servicing of our fleet, every year we generate approximately 30,000 litres of used lubricating oil across our 13 sites. Instead of letting that oil be manufactured into low-quality, carbon-emitting fuel, we now re-refine it back into high-grade lubricating oil. Our partnership with Slicker makes that possible.
Comprehensive Waste Management Package
In addition, Slicker also provides us with a comprehensive waste management package for our other workshop waste streams. This includes oil filters, batteries, empty drums, and tyres. This one-stop-shop service simplifies our supply chain, and also helps us significantly reduce our waste management costs.
A Green Partnership
Dean Ryan, Supply Chain Manager for Dawsongroup vans, said, “Dawsongroup vans is dedicated to sustainability and working with our supply chain to minimise carbon emissions and contribute to the circular economy. By working with Slicker Recycling, we have found a partner that is aligned with our clean, green ambitions. The used oil we produce now takes on a new life cycle by being re-refined, instead of simply burnt as a fuel. Our workshop waste is also responsibly managed by being reused and recycled with a zero-to-landfill policy in place.”
Dawsongroup vans’ Account Manager from Slicker Recycling, Jessica Cutler, said, “As we develop our partnership, we are supporting Dawsongroup vans with reducing their waste volumes. And where possible, implementing efficiencies, and finding the most sustainable solutions. Already, thanks to our carbon-efficient approach to waste oil, we have helped Dawsongroup vans make significant carbon reductions, as well as supported them in directly contributing to a sustainable circular economy.”
