Get to Know… Andy Wainwright, Key Account Manager

We interviewed Andy to discover more about his new role, his interests outside of work, and what he has on his bucket list!

Introducing Andy Wainwright, a Key Account Manager for Dawsongroup truck and trailer.

Where are you from originally?

I was born in Billinge Hospital near Wigan but moved to a small village in the Bolton area when I was 6 years old, and I have been there ever since.

What was your first job?

I did paper and milk rounds when I was at school, but my first full-time, paid job was as a vehicle mechanic in the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers branch of the Armed Forces.

What job(s) did you have before joining DGTT?

When I left the forces, I worked for Stagecoach repairing buses and Coaches. I then had a year as a centre manager at Kwikfit, before joining what was to become BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions as a maintenance controller. Over the next 21 years gained experience in various fleet, sales and account management roles before joining Carrier Transicold as Service Director for 8 years.

When did you join DGTT?

I started on 24th June this year as a Key Account Manager.

What does your job involve?

My job involves working closely with our sales team and others across all our branches to build strong partnerships with our customers and ensure they get the best possible service and operational support while we also grow the account revenues.

What’s been the highlight of your time at DGTT?

In my brief time at the company, the highlight has been meeting all the people within the business both at Head Office and the other branches I have visited to date.

What has been the main influence in your career?

It has been the drive to never stop learning and always try and make a positive difference.

What do you do in your spare time?

I spend time with my family and Granddaughter, watch the mighty Bolton Wanderers, play golf when I can and ride my motorcycle, which I find clears the mind.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

I can complete the Rubik’s cube on average in under 5 minutes!

What’s on your bucket list?

I had a sabbatical before joining DGTT, so I ticked off quite a few on my list but would like to visit Canada and Australia at some time in the future.

We’re always looking for fantastic employees, like Andy Wainwright, to join our team, so if you’re interested in a job that’s more than a job, then head over to our jobs portal.
