Behind the Scenes: Kirsty Dawes, Regional Head of Sales for the Northwest

Since 2017, Kirsty Dawes has been an integral part of the team at the Dawsongroup vans’ Skelmersdale site. With a background in transport recruitment, she began her Dawsongroup career as Area Sales Manager and progressed to Regional Head of Sales for the Northwest in September 2023.

The Secret of Kirsty Dawes’ Success

Kirsty oversees the sales team in the area, keeping them motivated and supported to hit their targets and deliver exceptional customer service. Her role is a balancing act, with her time being split between backing the team and growing and developing her own customer base. This variation is where she thrives; one day she is out on the road visiting customers and the next she’s in the office for meetings with colleagues. She finds it challenging at times, but she has a great team of supportive and approachable people, which makes all the difference.

“The secret to my success is to never give up,” said Kirsty. “I’ve always been a hard worker and at Dawsongroup I’ve really been able to flourish. Everything is possible here if you’re focused and compete with yourself.”

Engaging with customers, both new and existing, is one aspect of Kirsty’s job that she loves. She is always open and honest, and she makes sure they are happy with the quality solutions she provides.

“We’re more than salespeople, we’re consultants,” said Kirsty. “Building trust between us and our clients is vital for success.”

Kirsty also enjoys talking to customers about Dawsongroup as a whole and what she can offer customers beyond vans through the Smarter Asset Strategy.

“I really enjoy talking about Dawsongroup; it’s a great company to sell, completely different to our competition, and we safeguard customers’ future needs as well as their current ones.”

Growing and Developing

The Skelmersdale branch is in a really exciting period of development at the moment. It has been steadily expanding since it opened in 2012 and Kirsty is looking forward to further growth in the coming months and years.

“We’re expanding our departments in the northwest, offering a better way of working to companies in the area,” said Kirsty. “The business is going from strength to strength and it’s a pleasure to be part of that.”

Everyone in the team is integral to the success of the business, and Kirsty knows how critical teamwork is. She has an excellent working relationship with Michael Rutter, Head of Operations, and they work together to ensure the customers are kept happy.

“We share ideas and best practice all the time,” said Kirsty. “Everyone in the team is so friendly, and we all motivate each other. I’ve been fortunate to grow these relationships over the past seven years. Looking to the future, I want to make sure that I make a positive difference to the business.”

Outside of work, health and fitness are really important to Kirsty, and she finds exercising is great for both her mental and physical health. Kirsty also spends a lot of time with her two-year-old son, who keeps her on her toes. On the weekends they like to go exploring, whether going on a walk, heading to a farm, or visiting soft play and, when he’s a bit older, she plans to take him to Disneyland.
