Team Dawsongroup London to Paris Charity Cycle Ride

In sub-Saharan Africa, road deaths are the third biggest killer following HIV/AIDS and malaria. Transaid works to tackle this by improving driver training, standards, and systems, and changing lives through safe, available and sustainable transport. The charity empowers people to build the skills they need to transform their own lives.

On 22nd September, the Dawsongroup truck and trailer team set out from Greenwich Observatory after an early start and wove their way out of England’s capital!

As they ventured further south, the roads quieted and became leafier as they passed through the High Weald AONB and the far Southern tip of the South Downs National Park, before eventually meeting the coast and onto the ferry at Newhaven.

Little did they know just how tough the challenge was going to be and just how many hills they would need to climb, or how many punctures, other incidents, and upsets they would have to endure before the magnificent sight of the Eiffel Tower came into view three hard days later. However, the long days in the saddle were rewarded by great camaraderie and good company, and the Dawsongroup team spirit shone bright as they rode together to their final destination.

Whilst donations are still being received, the last updated total fundraised across all teams was an astonishing £73,000! Our own incredible Team Dawsongroup raised £9,790 and we are extremely proud of them.
