The Avonmouth supersite opened its doors to staff and customers on 4th January 2021, complete with state-of-the-art facilities, a sustainable design, and workshops for servicing, repair, and preparation of new vehicles. Since then, it has demonstrated exactly how effective combining business units can be.
Having the different businesses based at one site enables everyone to work together and help each other out. Drivers for truck and trailer or emc help out vans – and vice versa – whenever needed, ensuring the smooth running of operations and customer service. Truck and trailer used to have to use a network of repair agents to service their vehicles in the Avonmouth area; now all servicing is completed by onsite emc engineers.
“It’s great to have us all working together,” said Adam Eddy, Sales Manager South for Dawsongroup emc. “The company ethos is to talk about the group, and working together here ties that into everything we do. Creating brand awareness needs everyone to pull together and sell the brand – even the cleaners. When we talk to customers, it’s not just about the assets we have but about the business as a wider group and the bigger picture – the solutions we provide that mean customers can, ultimately, come to us for everything.”
“Everyone is very welcoming and there’s good interaction between staff in different departments and different business units,” said John Abellan, Business Development Executive for Dawsongroup temperature control solutions. “I’m looking forward to seeing the team here expand and develop further.”
Advantages for Customers
The advantages for customers are also plain to see. Visitors to Avonmouth can see for themselves a few of the options Dawsongroup can provide, as well as the opportunity to have a free consultation with our experts to discuss the best solution for their business. Our Smarter Asset Strategy provides customers with much more than they may have originally been looking for, and the response from our customers is testament to that.
“Working together with the different business units, you get to see what emc and truck and trailer do,” said Megan Zaffiro, Hiredesk Assistant for Dawsongroup vans. “You can even see what tcs do with their inflatables in the yard. We help them out with visitors, deliveries, or drivers, and they help us out too. Customers also know we’re here to help and, since opening the site, we’ve received many thank you letters from customers.”
Here for the Long Term
Not only does our Avonmouth supersite enable different business units to work together, but it is also a hub for sustainable working. With electric vehicle charging points for staff, customers and Dawsongroup vans, as well as solar panels and recycling schemes that even include the water in the vehicle wash bays, Avonmouth demonstrates Dawsongroup’s environmental commitment.
“I definitely think sites like this are the right way to go in the future,” said Wayne Sheppard, Area Operations Manager for Dawsongroup truck and trailer. “Avonmouth is the first site to be built from scratch, and we’re one big happy family! Everything’s fantastic. We have proper wash bays and a fully equipped workshop – people from other sites are quite envious, and whenever drivers come here they are always impressed.”
Dave Rumley, Contract Hire Manager for Dawsongroup truck and trailer, said, “I love the site, I think it works just brilliantly. It’s a great place to showcase Dawsongroup and everything we can do. We have an open-door policy for customers to visit and it shows them that we’re here for the long term.”
